At York Delivery Pharmacy, we offer completely FREE delivery on all NHS prescriptions, whether your medication is delivered locally or sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24h or 48h. Our aim is to provide a safe, reliable, and convenient service across England.

- Across England – sent using Royal Mail Tracked 24 or 48
The delivery method depends on the type of medication prescribed:
Standard Medicines
Delivered by our local drivers in York or sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48h service across England (2–3 working days). Many parcels fit through your letterbox, so you don’t need to be at home. You can also choose a safe place for delivery.
Refrigerated Medicines
Delivered in York by our drivers or sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24 for faster delivery across England. These items are packed in temperature-controlled packaging to keep them cool during transit. Please place them in the fridge as soon as possible after delivery.
Controlled Medicines
Delivered by our local drivers or sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24h (signature required). These medicines must be signed for. You’ll receive a delivery time slot on the day, and we’ll let you know in your dispatch email if this applies.

ABOUT Delivery
Yes – all NHS prescriptions are delivered free of charge.
This includes delivery within York by our drivers and **Across England delivery via Royal Mail Tracked 24 or 48 services.
Once we receive your prescription from your GP, our pharmacy team will prepare and send it as quickly as possible.
We usually dispatch your prescription within one working day of receiving it.
- Within York – will be delivered by our local drivers
- Across England – will be sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24 or 48
Most deliveries arrive within 1–2 working days after dispatch.
- Acute and Urgent Medication - Delivered same day in York or send via Royal Mail Tracked 24h service for next day delivery across England
If you are outside York, your prescription will be sent via Royal Mail in plain, discreet packaging with no pharmacy branding.
Tracked delivery means you can follow your parcel and see when it will arrive.
For York deliveries your prescription will be packed in NHS pharmacy packaging as it would be if you picked it up from your local pharmacy.
You can track your prescription in the following ways:
- For deliveries across England - Check your email, we’ll send you a delivery update with a tracking link from Royal Mail
- York deliveries – if your prescription is delivered by our drivers, tracking may not be available yet, but we’ll keep you updated via email or text.
You may specify a safe place (e.g. with a neighbour or in a designated spot) when placing your order.
If you miss your delivery, Royal Mail will usually leave a card with instructions on how to rearrange delivery or collect your parcel from a local depot.
Please Note: For Refrigerated and Controlled medicines you can not choose a safe place or delivery with a neighbour.
